Ariadne has a Face now!

My Rachel Anderson Ariadne charted by HAED now has a face!

When I finished page three it had the top of her head. I just could not resist working down instead of over to get her lovely face finished. There is a bit of confetti around her eyes and in her wings, but not near as much as in the Literate Dragon, so it is a nice break from my dragon. I just love the colors in her. She is a joy to stitch on.

I just had to share her face with all of you. I love how real her lips came out.

Happy Stitching!

I’ve been trying to keep to a rotation this month, but certain designs (and they know who they are!!) have been hogging all of my attention. I am enjoying both QS Literate Dragon and Joan Elliott’s Fairy and Dragon. The Joan Elliott design is just one of the gorgeous designs available in her book called Fairy Enchantment. It is available through Amazon and many Stitching supply stores such as 123Stitch and Polstitches. This is my first design out of the book and the chart is easy to read and the colors are yummy.

I’m concentrating on her this week, so here is a before picture and next week I’ll have an update to see how much I was able to get done. J

As much as I love stitching on my HAED dragon, I plan to put him away and stitch a bit on Ariadne this week too. It is bothering me that I have page 3 almost done, and want to at least finish that page if I can.

Happy Stitching,

It’s been a pretty busy year for me so far. After making a start on all of my SAL pieces I was pretty much obsessed with QS Literate Dragon for the HAED BB SAL. I am just loving every minute of stitching on it. There is a ton of confetti, so I opted to put it down and get a couple of days in on Nora Corbett’s Bluebell Pixie. Here she is with three days stitching.

I was afraid that her dress would get lost on my fabric because of the blue/teal in the fabric, but now that more of the dress is done it is standing out nicely. I just love the flow of this design. I still haven’t bought the beads or metallic threads for it yet and will probably get the cotton Caron Wildflowers instead of the silk Caron Waterlilies for it. I will keep stitching as much as I can on it with the regular floss until I can make an order.

I spent some time the other day working on my dragon, so here is a little update on him. The bookshelves are almost confetti free and then I will work on the confetti I left along the chair and book at the bottom. J

On a totally un-stitchy related note, I took the plunge and published my first novel on Kindle the first of January. My husband and I both decided we were going to be artists this year in the sense of indulging our creative sides and see where it takes us. I was totally shocked to read a review a few days ago of my book on http://www.sookiestackhousebooks.com

The novel is called Veronica Valentine and the Vampire Vendetta by Diana Garland (that’s me folks!)

Here is a link to it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Veronica-Valentine-Vampire-Vendetta-ebook/dp/B00AVPW0SY

My husband did the cover art for me. It was a spur of the moment decision to put myself out there and publish it, so he was kind enough to make the cover for me in a day! He’s already working on my next cover even though that story is only in outline form right now. I am so excited that this year is going to be a creative year for us.

I plan to bring Ariadne by HAED out to play this week, so hope to have a decent update by next week for everyone.

Happy Stitching,

I’ve had some time to work on my HAED bulletin board SAL and am loving every minute of it. Even though changing my thread color every few stitches is a little tedious, the colors are so pretty and seeing the books and now the kitty start to take shape is exciting. I don’t quite have the little cat peeping over the book done yet, but I plan to fill in his blanks this week some time.

I really can’t wait to finish the two columns on the left. I think then I will work across the bottom, so the dimensions of the page are outlined for me. Then I can jump around more than I’m doing now depending on what color I feel like stitching with.

Happy Stitching everyone!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s Eve. I’ve been having a relaxing week starting my January Stitch-a-long new starts. I put my first stitches into Josephine Wall’s Snow Queen by HAED, Bluebell by Nora Corbett, Randal Spangler’s Trick or Treat by HAED and today I just started the 2013 HAED Bulletin Board SAL with QS Literate Dragon, also by Spangler.

I don’t have much to show on Snow Queen or Trick or Treat yet.

Here is the little bit I did on Nora Corbett’s Bluebell Pixie. She will be a quick stitch once I get time to concentrate on her and order the beads and metallics for her.

I am stitching it on 16 ct aida cloth that I hand-dyed myself with Rit Teal and Rit Purple dye.

I also had a bit of time to pull out Celtic Samhain yesterday and am working to finish the black down the center of the gown. Here is a little update on her:

I really love how she is coming out! She will be my main focus non-HAED piece for the year until she is finished. There are big blocks of color, so when I actually sit down and work on her it goes pretty quickly.

The opposite of big blocks of color would be page 1 of the HAED Bulletin Board 2013 SAL. The first bit is a bit of confetti stitching, but the result is well worth the effort. I was so happy to get the first page this morning in my e-mail! I was out of printer ink, so I couldn’t make a working copy. I was so excited I started anyway. I have since learned that reading a pattern off my Kindle is not as easy as being able to mark off stitches on a working copy. I am loving it so far though! I can see the books starting to take shape on the shelf. I am using 28 count Red Jobelan. I’m not use to such a dark fabric, so it is going to take a little practice to get a good rhythm going.

Happy Stitching everyone!
